Most dogs are dependant on their owners, as such they refuse to range way out there. Train them to be independent and they will range further, also in a field full of birds, well range isn't on their minds at all. Training is 90% of the dogs run in FT world. I think everyone should read Delmars book, lots of good stuff in there. Don't over think it, just pick the line you want and go for it.

I like Odysey kennels stuff for a shorthair. DC lines do it all and look great doing it. :)

I "Free feed" my dogs, Delmar says keep the feed pail full and dog will eat only what he needs, feed him a little bit twice a day that pup will eat everything put down in front of him. I find this to be a true statement. Keep the food bucket full and pup will be better off for it.

Man thats some fun stuff. I cant hunt bobcats here, there is a speices that is only to be found in the Loess Hills area and killing one is a big fine. I used to run coons tho many years ago and sure do miss the baying and treeing.

It's the assertion you make about linebreeding makes for smaller dogs. Best do yer research then. It does make smaller dogs over a long time, generation after generation with no outcrosses. Maybe 10 g for the dog the rest for emotional damage. Lawyer gets 1/3 off the top. Happens often in these types of cases.

Yes, they need to have both. I have a FT bred female I got awhile back. She is a lot smaller than the one I have out of a DC. The line breeding will make a smaller dog IMHO.
