Planned on letting them out when we stop for fuel but I'll be driving straight through so i'll probalby just feed them a smaller amount when we stop in the evening. Then feed them good when we get there in the morning.

feeding dogs while on the road
when do you like to feed your dogs when going on a road trip? I'll be leaving about lunch tomorrow to head to KS about 17 hrs...I normally feed in the evening but was thinking of feeding early morning that way they should be able to get by on just water and maybe small amount late the evening if the...

what load for mixed bag
Will be headed to KS this week...Will be in north central where i could run into quail or phesant....what size should I shoot that will take pheasan't down clean but not be so big that hard to hit or waste quail?

It would probably be my grandfather on it mostly, I would walk from the truck to the field with the dogs and he might just go on down the road an then walk in and i would work to him.....So even if the gun was unloaded it would be no no? would this be in the regulations?

Kansas....4 wheeler on dirt road can I?
Is it alright to have a 4 wheeler on the dirt roads in Kansas....say i want to park the truck then right down the dirt road to drop a dog out etc....never drive on any WIHA or private land would there be any problems with this?

He's in his crate earlier I had to drag him out to get him to eat i could stand at the doorway and yell as loud as i could and he wouldn't even turn his head.....I'm now getting him to turn his head when i'm close and give a loud wistle and his name.....so looks like he can hear some maybe it will o...

OK Im PO'd right now beyond belief....I have 4 dogs 3 are are always kenneled....i have 1 rescue dog that lives in the house and stays in the yard.....My grand parents live on the same property right up the hill.....my uncle's 13 year old son was over this weekend and I heard them shooting firworks ...

Thanks they do recall well probably check in a little too much but hopefully they will adjust easy where I'm at there's not much room to run real big would be nice if they open up a little....I'll get some video and pictures.

I do but not with my dogs....my friends have squirrel dogs and other hounds....Mosty terrier or a cur dog is what they use.

I'm training one of my dogs right now to track deer blood....we killed a deer last weekend during bow season and my friend gave me the blood its been so wet its been hard to lay a good track...and since he doesn't have it down yet the wet grass makes it harder.....i use blood only becasue i don't wa...

lot of people bay with curs, walkers other hounds and then send in the catch dog....I think most people use pits for their catch most of the ones i know thats what they use...some use Catahoula, american bulldogs and other breeds like.

OK just wonder if anyone has had a dog do this.... This is a FF GSP that likes to retrieve...I am currently breaking him STWS. When i drop a bird out in front of him and make him stand a while he starts whinning cause he wants to go get it but knows he cant...I give him a nick and say whoa cuase it ...

I do my own training...work full time and have kids got my fist bird dog 3 years ago or so...I had him and a now 2 year old broke to wing for hunting last year I'm now training out all the way to shot and fall....They should be ready by November....I also have a 1 year old pup I plan on having him b...

Thanks all...Here in GA you cannot run a dog on public land during deer season......I know GA isn't like Kansas no one really bird hunts any more its mostly a big game state....and i remember when i was on a hunt on public land a guys bird dogs got of his property or he was hunting the WMA but both ...

Haven't narrowed it all the way down yet but have the opertunity to rent a house in Natoma....want to do some research and see what kind of hunting i can get into around there....Also woulnd mind driving a little ways for a good day of hunting somewhere

So if you just try and stay away from area's that have a trucked parked at them? If there wasn't a dog box in the back and you couldn't see them you wouldn't know if they were bird hunting or deer hunting.

I have my GA hunter safety it should be all I need right....I think if I leave thanksgiving day I can get in Friday and hunt for a few good days it would then only be 1 day of having to hunt while firearms is open.....taking young dogs i didn't want to go later in the season i would like to go befor...

OK trying to narrow my dates down....I was thinking of leaving Thanksgiving night and staying for a week but that puts me 2 days into firearms season....what do you guys that bird hunt do during firearms season is it best to stay away doing then.

I have a a 20' 300lb chain connected to 2 stakes i made out of heavier rebar Welded a metal Oring (actually a big washer) so i could snap my chain to the stake. I keep my 4 dogs on it.

There are a good bit of plantations and you can find birds on public land about like south Georgia just have to go out hit the field and do some walking.
