Re: French Brittanys
They are great dogs, but then I am biased. I currently have 4 of them, and will be keeping a female from my upcomiong litter. They are often marketed as close working dogs, but that is not entirely true. Much depends on what you do with them when they are young. Vern and Chloe will get out as far as...

Re: For those with multiple dogs...
French Brittany tiny?? Those are fightin words  I prefer to think of mine as Pocket Rockets! Going from 2 dogs to 3 was a bigger transition for me. They all want attention at the same time, and here I am with only 2 hands. After that, adding the 4th was easy, and I will be adding a 5th this yea...

Are you looking for doors for a doghouse, or a dogbox for a vehicle.
If it is for a dog box, I have 3 sets I bought and ended up not using, as I bought a trailer instead. Just let me know.

Re: Naming dogs
I follow the French naming convention. The kennel name proceeded by a name that statrs with a letter based on the year. This is a "D" year so the names have been Darius, Derrick, Damascus... It is easy to see a dogs name and know about how old it is. As just starting in breeding, I also want people ...

I use PedX by Breedmate, it can go back 25 generations for calculating COI, among many other things it does, and it is really not very expensive.

All 3 of my dogs have flown. 2 of have flown to or from France, one round trip to AZ, and one from Canada. 50% of the puppies I have sold fly out of State. I never sedate, or would consider sedating them for the flight. Yes thet are happy to get out of the crate, but for that matter, I am happy to g...

Vern is a pretty fast dog, but I don't think he can run out of the collar yet! = Near as I can figure, one branch somewher along the line probably pulled the excess strap out, and once it was hanging free another one somwehere along the line caught it and unbuckled it. Re: Garmin - First 30 Days
I had the DC 30 collar come of Vern hunting Grouse this weekend. Was nice being able to know pretty much right where it was. Once I got within 10 yards, where it told me I was near, switched to the dog collar screen for that collar, and pinpointed it to 1 yard, where I found it. Would be nice if the...

Re: Anyone know a good easy program to calculate COI
I use Pedigree Exploreer by PedX. It will determine a COI back as far as 25 generations. On my dogs I can trace back 17 to 18 generations. Took a little time to input all the information, but luckily the French have their Stud Book available online for free

Re: Flying with dogs
It varies widely by airline. The first time I flew to France with Vern, it was on Iceland Air and it was $250.00 round Trip. When I looked at going back with him this Spring it was $600.00 on NorthWest, as Iceland Air has cut back its flights from Minneapolis to Paris. Flying to AZ and back in 2007 ...

I will be taking Vern in to start a course of treatment. The Lymes test w...

A little bragging
On Wednesday Vern won the FBGDA National Wild Braces trial in Salina Kansas. By doing so he has now achieved UKCs highest title, Grand Champion of the Field. He is the first dog of any breed to do so. In order to get this title a dog has to win 5 trials under 5 different Judges, 2 of the trials have...

Ruffshooter, I would not do much if any cutting of the coat if it . That can seriously damage a coat if it gets cut too short, I have seen it a number of times. Hey Chris,
Do you know when the run order will be posted for the trial this weekend. Vern, Denise and I will see Boomer and you there. We are probably heading up Thursday night.

I would say the bigger breeders, like the Mooney's , Dillions, Dalrymple, Shipleys, to mention just a few, breed to standard and hunting. French Brittanys Field Trialing is relatively new. The smaller breeders, not as much towards conformation mainly as they don't always have the level of knowledge,...

Rick, I agree wholeheartedly with you. I like UKC, but i think they could take a page from the French CEB.
