Re: Pigeon laid eggs in a bare nesting bowl.....
I bought some colored bands from LCS when I was getting started and I'm going to put them on my young ones and the female that's laid eggs so far. These look like they'll be a little loose to me, will that be a problem? IIRC, topher40 said he just uses zip-ties - would I be better off ditching the b...

I threw them in the cow field Around here we have corn fields and cow pastures so I got a little chuckle when I read that because it made me think of the scene from Goodfellas where the Joe Pesci, Robert DeNiro and Ray Liotta needed a knife to cut da deer's "paw" off 'cause it got stuck in da grill...

Pigeon laid eggs in a bare nesting bowl.....
I was just telling Topher40 (Chris) last week that my pigeons weren't laying eggs and "Poof", when I went to clean the coop on Sunday, I saw one of my birds laid a clutch in a bare nesting bowl (I ran out of pine needles when I cleaned the coop last week). I'm pretty sure she laid them sometime late...

Having problems getting motivated after losing a GREAT one..
As some of you may know, in August I had to put down the best dog I think I'll ever own. I knew it was coming (she was almost 15 years old) so I picked up a puppy in March of last year so I'd have one "in the works". Well.....the good news is the puppy is fantastic and has shown a lot of promise but...

I don't compete so it's not big deal to me but, weather permitting, I just can't see letting my dog loose without one. I took my pup for a quick spin at a local spot yesterday and her collar indicated that at one point she was 981 yards out (in about 5 seconds!! :o ). With the way she runs, it would...

Cold weather care for pigeons
It's extremely cold here right now, especially with the wind chill, and I was thinking about totally shutting up my coop. As it stands right now, I have a 10"x10" door open that leads to my screened in aviary so the birds will have have some light and can go in/out at will. Is it ok to leave this sm...
