I just check out the Hay Creek Kennel site and I see they offer two different stake-outs for $36/ea but I'm not sure why. Maybe someone here could explain - When would you use this..... http://www.websitesimplicityplus.com/hck/graphics/supplies/stakes.jpg As opposed to this..... http://www.websitesi...

One of the first times I ever when pheasant hunting, we hunted behind my friend's uncle's Brittany which only had three legs. I couldn't believe how well that dog got through the brush - it never skipped a beat. My buddy's uncle always said they had the vet remove one leg to try and slow him down a ...

At first I was just telling her "NO" which, after doing a little reading, I gathered was incorrect since a blanket command for all bad/annoying behavior would end up confusing the dog. The author recommended using more specific commands like "No Bite" and "No Jump" so I was trying to make it as clea...

We pulled some flight feathers and planted the pigeon. Twice she went right in on it and it got away and I was able to catch it. The 3rd time she pointed and it flushed as I walked up, She was able to chase it down a catch it this time. It's been a REALLY long time since I've worked with birds and ...

Pup's biting and chewing
My 9wk old GSP, Roxy, is a little pistol and loves to play fight with my 10yo and 14.5yo GSPs. The problem is that my 10yo has no problem putting her in her place (fast) but my 14.5 is so old she just doesn't do anything to defend herself so Roxy will bite down on whatever flap of skin (ear, jowel, ...

Thanks guys. I'm from Omaha with family from O'Neill and my wife's family are from Hartington and St. Paul. I'm pretty sure it's some kind of firewall setting or something on my laptop but what's weird is that I have no problems on any other site from that laptop. Oh well.....it might just be M-F ta...

Absolutely has to be one of the nicest looking pups I've seen in quite a while. Great build, high tail set, solid liver except for a very well placed white star on the chest. Mind if I inquire as to what lines she's out of? Thanks Rodger (and thanks all)!! I have her pedigrees on PDF so I can send ...

I'm from Omaha and haven't had a chance to watch a hunt test yet but would love to do that. I see you're in Central NE - my wife has family around St. Paul and Norfolk and a good friend of mine has a ranch in Verdigre so we'll probably be making some trips out that way this summer. If you're near an...

The guy's name is Tyson Taylor and he's from the Rapid City, SD area. His GSPs are small for the breed but that's the way I like 'em. I'm guessing my GSP will be 40-50 lbs all growed up!! Here's a pick of Tyson with the sire and dam (Bonnie and Clyde). http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f302/jennifer...

Might be reading it wrong, but you sound a bit like a trainaholic :P Hey....I resemble that remark!! I just picked up a set of the PS/PF DVDs via a PM transaction so I should be good to go on books/DVDs. Any input on what to do with our new pup until the real training begins would be great. ...

Need input to help brush off the cobwebs!!
Hello everybody!!! We're picking up a cute little 8 week old GSP female this Friday. It's the first puppy for our kids and the first one for me to train in over a decade so we're all gettin' VERY excited!! I'm really looking forward to seeing my son bond with this dog as he starts to learn the train...

Do not give a command you can not enforce. Do not get upset when you allow yourself to get in that situation and if you allow it to happen again walk away ...seriously walk the opposite direction that the pup is going when the pup comes around and comes close do not grab for the pup either That's g...

I'm in the same boat....
I'm new here and have an 8 week old GSP showing up this Friday so I'm also very interested in the input on PS/PF and other DVD sets. Not to hi-jack but I noticed there's also a Delmar Smith 3-disc set out there for the same price as PS/PF and would appreciate hearing any input on that set as well, e...

If you're up to the task the dog should be too.
I'm new here so take this for what it's worth..... When I got my first GSP she was 16 weeks old and I took some advice and waited to do any formal training until she was a year old. I'm not saying that's good advice, just the advice I took. BTW - I have pup coming this Friday and will probabl...
