My 2 cents. Brits tend to be better open country prairie bird hunters. Sharpies,sage grouse, huns and chukars. Springers are more adept at thick cover pheasants and waterfowl hunting. Both breeds hunt forest grouse and quail equally well, although I'd give the advantage to springers on quail runners...

I agree with most of the things mentioned. But because I'm hiking a ways and am also getting a long in the tooth, I take a space blanket,flashlight, lighter and parafin fire starter along with my cell phone, just in case.

21/2 might be a little young, but I would go on test hunt with her and dress her up and try shooting around her. Also remember when she is done so are you. I took my kids out for the first time when they were in grade school.

Take it from me, someone who has hunted S. Idaho for over 40 yrs, if you keep your dog on a soft surface, keep your Vet on speed dial. You will have cracked and cut paws and broken nails with the lava content of the soils, cacti spines and thorny plants.

Mixture of small grains in a flat open feeder. My guess is the mourning doves will be moved out by the collared doves in the neighborhood. No need for a hanging waterer. They will drink out of any water source on the ground.
