Also, the UKC defines the breed as the English Pointer:

NSTRA defines the breed as the English Pointer as well. They are not a registry, yet.

50 lbs for a 12 month old field-bred (I assume) female GSP is on the high side of average, IMO. Based on the photos she doesn't appear to be underweight at all; doesn't even look like the rear ribs are showing but photos can be deceiving. Her height and weight look proportional. What's the breeding ...

Tracey, It's fairly tight; the COI is 16.7%. Oddly enough, you could take a female pup out of that litter and breed it to a male out of Cecil (Windrow's Saddle Tramp) and an unrelated female and not increase the inbreeding coefficient. Most would assume that it would take you off the charts but it r...

I'll post more later but........ From a genetics standpoint, there is no difference between linebreeding and inbreeding. "Inbreeding" has a negative association so folks developed the term "linebreeding" to mean a weaker form of inbreeding. You talk to the genetics folks and you never hear the term ...

Everybody has a different defenition of what is broke and what is not broke. Some say a broke dog is one that will point till you flush, some say it is one that is steady to wing, and shot. Some say it needs to be wing, shot and fall. Not too sure about that. When you hear "broke dog stakes" I don'...

For me, it would me the MH. When it comes to breeding hunting dogs, especially those of us looking for performance-quality breedings, one of the most important traits is trainability and stability. Just an addition to John's post.......... The important thing to understand is to turn your body the direction you want to go and go that way BEFORE calling to the dog.
