Sorry, didn't mean you in particular  Should have put "the" GSP's. I would never call your pretty red dog a GSP! And again, no offence to GSPs, they're pretty too. Can I dig myself any deeper into this hole... :?

She will actually vade in the water by herself now, but not in this cold-spell we've been having. And yes, I know the birds are important. They're not limitited here, it's my time in the field that's my problem. One kennel I contacted offered to put birds out for her at no cost, as it won't be consi...

First Hunt

Took Penny out for her first "hunting trip" last weekend. It was very windy, and the birds were jumpy, but she did find and point some birds! Didn't shoot though, because when she found the birds, NDBD's new pup was tagging along. Didn't get very good pictures, but here they are anyways... Do you sm...

She whines outside when we're not there with her. She's in the house in her kennel when we're gone, and she's fine. Seems she only whines when she thinks we can hear her, or if she's outside by herself. Very much a social dog. Squirt bottle inside might work, but she can see me coming from all angle...

Obedience-my latest issue

So here's my new problem. Penny won't shut up! She's fine in her kennel if she can see us, or if she can't see us or hear us. However, if she can't come with us (example basement), or if she can hear us get up at night, or if she's outside without us, she howls and whimpers and pulls and digs. If we...

Dog Boarding

I need to board my dog this winter for about 3 weeks. I'm shopping around, and need some advice. 1. Any good kennels in the ND MN area (I'm in Grand Forks)? 2. What's a decent price for boarding a dog for that long (good facilities)? 3. What should I do to prepare? My pup will be 8 months by the tim...

What is the best way, or where is the best place to research your dogs lineage? I'd like to learn more about my dog's lines, but also for future refrence for future dogs I'm sure I'll buy.

I guess what I'm getting at is for instance when to start obedience, to not hinder the natural ability/ hunting drive. If you're only training obedience, agility etc. it seems you only have that part to concentrate on. With hunting dogs it's the bird intorduction, water introduction, when and if to ...
