Re: Small gundogs

manners- I feel having them in a kennel, dog box, staked out, or loose in the yard is part of the whole package- when let loose sure they tear arround- same as when first let inside- but they know the game and quickly settle down- then you let them out- you don't want to be standing in the way- thin...

I'd buy another just like I have- light sweet swinging Citori Upland Special 20- come to appreciate the safetly features of an o/u- plus- only two shots makes for a bit more care- does quite ...

Re: Chain Gang

When would a "back" command be used? to me- when one is creeping and then has a funny point- like it's found a snake or a critter- "back- get back!!" works for me- they get back also- mine whoa just fine- that doesn't mean I'd leave them- nuts to think one would trust the dog or dogs to stay in som...

Re: 9 week old Brit pup in new runner

 that's a good one- used to have cats walk the fence top, about the only time Britt's got worked up- so I just possitioned the spray nozzle to catch the cat- had the water control by the kitchen sliding door- cats stopped walking the fence then a nieghbor kid would poke sticks thru the privacy ...

Re: Small gundogs

Thanks for all the info. I'm curious now, too, about a 200 yard ranging dog. I could see (maybe) using it on the great plains, but unless you have a GPS attached to it, it seems like you would be hunting after the dog all the time rather than the dog hunting for you. I can't see using a dog like th...

Re: 9 week old Brit pup in new runner

Hey all Cool board -- lots of info. Got me a 9 week old Brit pup. Got a 5x6x10 runner with nice doghouse/overheard tarp for him. I found on craigslist (new all that was about $375-400) for $125 used. Anyway I've had to patch a few of the holes from previous adult dog. He can't get out but sure is w...

Re: Small gundogs

A Brittany was the choice we had originally made until we heard a few comments on their hyperness. Now we're re-thinking that decision. Is this hyperness true with all bloodlines of Brittany's ? (I also heard that their range can be 100 to 200 yards, which surprised me. That is too far for what I w...

new life on the farm

from living in town for the last 29 years to on the farm- interesting life brought 6 quail with me- let two males loose while 4 others paired up, making nest and laying eggs, eggs were being scattered arround- so I was gathering them and placing them in a homemade incubator- then the two pairs start...
