I don't argue that Mo...and again I hate labeling methods and types of dogs they get misunderstood, but with softer or more sensitive dogs I revert to mostly what you preach. I don't look at it as compulsion when I give the tug on the checkcord . The dog has to figure out what to do with the tug, it tries different options. When it comes in and I am pleased and touch him to praise him then he is on track to learning what I want and he thinks its his idea. I train with a ...

I want the pups to come in on their on after the tug and release. I don't believe in reeling a dog in. When I give a little jerk and they start in and stop I just keep backing up giving the little jerks.. When they come in I praise them with my hands in a calm way. I have read some of the replies but not all. This might have already been posted. The worst pressure I see in training that really causes confusion to the dogs is a person training to many reps in a session. This is especially true on birds. There are only 3 products I endorse, TriTronics, Garmin, and Fly Predators. Chuck is the notify phased out at some point with the dogs? I can't see much reason the keep using it once a dog is considered trained.. I like for training to be black and white, not much gray area.

That's about what I do everyday in training. Touching the dog in the right way at the right time is my praise, I give no verbal praise. Sounds like you and your dog are on track. Your best bet is to contact the trainer that worked the dog and get his advise and instruction on how and when he was using the collar. Is the dog still gunshy and birdshy? Your best bet is to talk with your last trainer and find out if he was using the collar for anything or just letting the dog wear it. If the last trainer was just working on solving those problems I doubt he was using the collar..

There is a way to stimulate the dog on birds without problem's. First you need him standing birds well. Pop the bird for him and let the chase get under way. at 15 to 20yds start nicking until the dog stops. let the bird drag the dog into it. About the stimulation, keep the lowest level on the colo...
