Ezzy,

Have you considered taking a moratorium on food related posts? Folks may like to have a discussion that doesn't turn into an argument with you.

+1. Find a dog that was started right and for sale for the right reasons. You'll be able to hunt over it this fall and enjoy doing it. Your expectations of your dog are unreasonable. An 8 week puppy can do no wrong and you should have zero expectations, especially outside for the next few months. Socialize the dog well, take it on puppy walks in all types of different places, expose it to water and birds, let it learn to hunt. That...

Some videos of 12 week pup

Looks like a lot of fun. What'd you take the videos with? IMO, I would allow the pup to interact with the bird more without your involvement. When she gets in the area of the bird, stay back and allow her to figure it out. She might point, she might not, let her go in on the bird and make the natura...

Get them liking the crate- feed them in it, put a long with on I'm it in there with the door open, etc. dog is going to cry, whine and bark. Going to have to live with it. The behavior will eventually extinguish itself.

Introduced 4 mo old puppy to birds this weekend

I'd put the brakes on the thought of gun intro. The op commented that his dog watched the bird fly, I wouldn't introduce the gun until that dog is really getting after that bird hard. There are no advantages of introducing te gun before you are 100% sure the dog is ready. To the original poster, it ...

Jerrod, I think the best thing would be to find a bird supplier- wild pigeons, quail, chukar, whatever. Shipping, driving, begging, whatever it takes to get birds. The birds will bring out your dog's natural desire. Try to plant them in a manner she cannot catch them, walk around with her, let her f...

It doesn't matter what you feed or how much it costs or where you get it if the dog is not absorbing the food. This dog exhibits some symptoms of decreased pancreatic function. If the pups are not pointing the coveys, they need to keep busting them until they start pointing them. I agree with others that they need to learn they need to point by realizing they can't catch. You can take chase out of the dog, you can't artificially put point in them.
