I think there are some things a dog has to learn on it's own and they normally do a good job of it with minor problems at the worse. If the dogs are running towards a fence that is well hidden I will slow them down but that is about the only thing I do and have never had a problem. Ezzy same here, ...

e-collar first, run it with a beeper if you want a little piece of mind. garmin is nice, i would suggest it to anyone...... but not over an e-collar, that is if you plan to train with an e-collar, i assume you are since you mentioned it.

ringworm possibly? doesn't form the classic ring as in humans but does cause hair loss. ringworm is contagious and you mentioned similar spots on the neighbors dog. guess ringworm is a fungus though so it was covered in a prior post, however it is contagious to humans as well so i would keep contact...

It's better to stop behavior you don't want with sterness than let an old grump of a dog tear her face off. who said anything about letting her around a dog that would tear her face off? a lot of dogs will correct her behavior for you making it 10 times easier for you to correct and 10 times easier...

i used a big pole net. the best way i found is to sneak up on them and just catch em, no lights or anything. doubt you could get them too many times before they relocated, especially if you are sicking dogs on em.

for quail and pheasant i would buy the older benelli M1 with the synthetic stock, i think you could find one of those for less than $500. the M1 is light, reliable, durable, and comes with a 26" barrel to swing quickly on the quail.
