you can use baby aspirin- 1 or 2 depending on her size. i dont like to use tylenol in dogs as it is kind of hard on the liver. dont use ibuprofen. just for fun, ask your vet to give her an injection of Banamine (large animal pain and fever reducer). I use it all the time in small animals and it work...

whats really fun is when you get one that is pointing real good, you SLOWLY drag the wing/rag back toward the pup. that REALLY tightens them up and will make the tail rise usually too! that always gives me goosebumps!!

I would try to discourage him eating acorns. They can cause kidney disease in cattle and some other animals. I dont remember exactly about dogs, but I would bet they are like grapes- a few wont hurt, but a good dose would be poisonous.

if you are having to have then expressed once a month, I would consider having them surgically removed. it is a simple procedure, that when done right you can hardly tell it was ever done. anal sacs are just scent glands that the dog doesnt need. if they cause a problem, cut'em out!

I think you have the problem diagnosed correctly from what you are describing, and if so you are gonna need antibiotics to treat it. good or bad, the vet is gonna be the place to get them. is this a recurring problem? if so, there may be an underlying issue that needs to be addresed. good luck!
