Slower, I agree the Dogtra could be louder. With that said, just be sure the volume is at the highest setting. Put Checkcords on both dogs and have someone with you and turn them loose in a small field. They are either going to hunt or fight. My guess they will hunt. But if you ever kill over them the trouble could start when there is a bird in ones mouth. Check cord is to break up the fight if there is one....

They each serve a different purpose. I think you would be happy with them if you just want to release a bird and have it walk instead of being launched. There are times when both are good.

You didn`t mention if the dog is tracking the running the bird via ground scent or is he lifting his head and trying too wind them. In well bred dog with a strong Field pedigree, not really, and most breeders will guarantee the health of the pup for at least 2 yrs. Does sh_t happen? of course, but most V`s are very healthy.
