I generally use a standard choke as I have learned how to hit what I am shooting at. Others modify their gun by using different sizes, as they haven't learned how to hit a target otherwise.

Depends on how high your pup can jump. :lol: If you keep pigeons on the coop and feed them for about one month they will stay. Further evidence has come to light that points toward the DD crowd as the funding agent for this plot. This would account for their lightning fast course work, they are gaining intell. for the other dogs.

If you have a CostCo membership, you might want to buy Kirtland Chicken and Rice Super Premium. I have been using it on my dogs for the past 6 years and have never been happier with a feed. It give them plenty of energy for an all day hunt and their coats look great. It doesn't cost too much as well...

I find, as well, that a dog's range will shorten up some with breaking, but that it will grow again with experience.
Mostly, my dogs hunt to cover and target. In the mountains, they will hunt closer and in the desert, they will hunt farther.

I was at walmart last night looking at the price of shells. Lead shells were $8.98 a box, non-toxic shells were $9.50 a box. Prices go up. Plus, you aren't being required to use non-toxic unless hunting in wetlands.

I have a NEF that hold .22 cal blanks. Only problem is that some trials mandate the larger cal.

If find that it is best to let another puppy or dog exercise your puppy.
You should really consider getting another with that in mind.
Just remember that it is your job to carry an over tired puppy home when you are done and you'll be fine.

Wow. That is really a lot of finds for any dog in a 35 to 60 minute trial.

So what's the desired temp at floor level for new pups? I assume most people check how warm it is with their heat lamps/heat pads? I start at about 4 months, but only if I am working with birds. Never use a gun of any type just to see if it will scare the pup.

Just don't leave it in your training box in the shed like I did last year. when I got the box out, I found my starter's pistol had a bit of surface rust. cleaning wasn't much fun that time.

I use two flood style heat lamps. Clip them on the edge of the whelping box when needed and then put away after the pups don't need them anymore.
I only use one of them at a time after the first couple of days and rotate which one is on at any given time.

Yea, nothing to worry about. Like I said earlier, everytime I am finished, my dogs know. I say, "Let's go" and they head to the truck. Heck, my older dogs know when we are finished and will ranger farther and farther back to the truck unless I call them back. No big deal, unless they bolt and don't come.
