Stick your hand in there and let him bite away at you for a bit. Really doubt he will draw blood or hurt you.
I would be more worried about the dog then the pigeon if my dog got beat up by one.

Once they all have flown enough and become decent flyers those birds will fly as a group, young birds probably won't go with them until they are decent flyers as well.

They are completely different dogs. The setter is much more independent and does have a little more renegade in him when it comes to running to feel the breeze in his face sometimes. The Munsterlander does not go for a joy run very long or often. The Munsterlander has an affinity for fur, he will ch...

Re: How Is a German shorthair Pointer supposed to hunt?
The setter goes bigger than the Munsterlander because the setter is bred to go bigger, have more run, then any Munsterlander I am aware of, and seems to find the run and search itself more rewarding in itself than the Munsterlander. When the setter goes too big it is generally because he is either t...

First off, |don't think you have a 1000 yard dog on your hands, I really doubt that the dog you got will run much more than 50-100 yards most of the time. Sure he may blow you off sometimes and take a big cast, but that is pointing dogs, with a young immature dog, you just get used to it. If you wan...

I use a bell/astro combo when hunting. Bell/beeper on point only or just using tone is good too. Not a fan of the constant beep on a beeper collar, or just an astro. I really think that birds not holding so the dog has to stay close is BS, IMO. The birds often flush when you get 20 or 30 yards from them, if your dog is only 30 to 50 yards away on point, then you only have a couple seconds before you end up flushing the bird and thus the self fullfulling prophesy...

Re: Pigeon's
He means it is probably better to fly them together, and that it is good to have a small secondary door or trap door incase a bird decides he is gonna take his sweet time coming home, you won't have to leave the main door open risking predators getting in.
Re: Pigeon's
I did have one that was a little aggressive, he didn't home back though so I didn't have to shoot him lol.
