Is there a GSP rescue in your area? If so, you may want to contact them so they know she is in a shelter. They usually pull them out and place in a foster home.

Peroxide is standard to give to dogs to make them vomit. I worry much more about the sock obstructing the gut vs the dog choking on the sock on the way back up!

He eats the thinner socks in one gulp. The thicker ones he chews in pieces and swallows. Luckily this has not happened in months! I am VERY careful now!

Bill- You are welcome. It is the quickest way to make sure you get the sock back and not have to worry about an obstruction and not to mention, cheap!

Mcbosco- Knowing my dogs- they would eat them faster with hot sauce! If I eat blazing hot Thai food, both are there drooling. Weird critters.

Just socks! The breeder told me that Max's mom used to steal her socks and drop them into the ex-pen with the pups. Shoes too. He steals shoes and other objects of clothing but only eats the socks. Amazing how fast the lil bugger can swallow them.

Mine will gobble socks in 2 seconds flat. So....I keep them in a drawer or behind a closed door. When he has swallowed them in the past, hydrogen peroxide down the throat. Never fails. Give about 1/4c. and they vomit within minutes. I would not risk letting it sit in their gut considering the potent...

I feed raw marrow bones which I know a lot of people, hate because they can fracture teeth. My 11 yr old still has beautiful teeth although a bit worn!

There is also a great group called Humane Watch that is monitoring HSUS. Just yesterday on Facebook they posted that Hills Pet Food (Science Diet) was involved with HSUS- Hills name came off the HSUS website in less then 2 hrs!

No--- Lyme's vacs are not 100% effective -- there are 2 companies that produce them. The Merial vaccine, I believe, is 90% effective. I spoke to a lymes researcher here last year about this and he recommended I vaccinate due to the high prevalence in this area.

I use Advantix (Advantage is only for fleas, Advantix does ticks as well). If you have cats, use Frontline as Advantix is toxic to cats. Also, if in a high Lymes area like me, vaccinating for Lymes is recommended.

I do competition obedience with my dog and lots of playing is involved including TUG when we train. People tell me not to do it b/c "he will develop a hard mouth". No issues so far. He has a very soft mouth with birds (or eggs that he steals from the carton!).

Some of those symptoms (frequent urination, dribbling, etc) sound like a possible bladder infection. Is he straining? Does this happen all the time? If so, worth talking to your vet.

I did a TPLO on my dog 2 yrs ago. She was 9 then. Doing awesome. From what I understand, the majority of dogs that tear one CCL will tear the other side. I know the TPLO was a radical surgery but....was the best decision I made especially with a 80# dog, (Hound cross).

I feed a 40% protein food- Orijen. No difference in energy levels form switching from a lower protein food. However, they both look amazing and one is 11.5yrs old. She is healthier then some dogs half her age!

You can easily switch the commands. Work with him on a leash/checkcord first. Lots of praise. He will learn fast. I use "Come" for a formal obedience recall and "here" for a recall in the field where he goes to heel position instead of sitting in front.
