In that photo mostly juniper, pinon pine, douglas fir, englemens spruce, and ponderosa. Other fire locations had mostly aspen. No beetle kill down here yet but certainly on its way.

Man what a trip. Ready to go home but now there are flash floods. Maybe Monday. Almost lost the place twice but those firefighters are miracle workers. More than 30,000 acres so far. We got evacuated due to a wildfire a few days ago. Thought for sure we would loose or place but so far it has made it. The fire got within a quarter mile and was crowning when the back burn beat it. At 7-8 weeks is there any chance at telling who the better hunters in a litter might be? Delmar Smith says no. I say no. I say that you can pick up a little on the temperament though not a whole lot. That is all kind of what I was thinking. If I got an extended cab setup it would make life easier and since I will be changing over from a slide in four wheel camper to a pull behind I don't need all of that bed space except for when I get firewood and I can always pull a trailer for that.

I have been thinking about picking up a full sized pickup and replacing a small toyota pickup. I plan on pulling a small 14-16ft camper around 3000-4000lbs with it. My neighbor has a 2007 f-150 he might be offing for a deal. It has the slower 4.6L but with my camper size in mind shouldn't matter. It...

Put the long set of prongs on if it came with it. if you can fit 3 fingers under the collar it is too loose. a snug 2 fingers is good. Get it too tight, then back off a notch. Try placing prongs directly under head with each between esophagus. When all else fails just get him nice and wet first.

I think it is more common to get random health defects than anything else. Not sure anyone could nail a percentage. I would say that some pups require more work than others, some are raging field masters and others more likely to be a closer working buddy. A total, non-hunting dog? Well, the chances...

The nice thing about retriever training and building a natural retrieve is this; If it doesn't work it isn't really that big of a deal because later down the road you can (should) force fetch anyways, that works. So go for it, try that method out. As far as best bumpers for pups, if you are trying t...

How long has he had the runs? Giardiasis can be difficult to diagnose if they miss the shedding cycle. Stay away from high protein foods. Give it a week after changing food to see if it makes a difference.

Just a side note, but there was some mention of flushing birds not being a big deal and you can just shoot them. That is true, but a 5 month old pup isn't going to range like a 2 year old. I just watched that video. Those quail have zero fly in them, they act more like couternix or some other variety of meat quail. What kind of habitat is your dog running pheasant on? Running birds take dogs a while to get the hang of, and they can only get it if the dang bird holds somewhere. I have hunted blue grouse that would bust at 100 yards, just depends on the cover.
