The GSP will work very well for what your intent is. They duck hunt down into 30's, Some colder, just need to keep them out of the wind and not sitting in the water for the hunt.

A dog that has the sense to circle a bird is a smart dog. It is trying to keep the bird from getting away and not make it flush. All the coyotes I have seen in UT, ID, NV and WY are about 20-25 lbs. I cant imagine a 50lb coyote, though I would bet there was something else mixed in! Most of what you find up here ranging from 35 pounds 45 pounds but some to 60 pounds, I know of a couple, one of which I saw, that was 65 pounds....
