I always thought it was best to have them from a puppy to bond with you but our first GSP was 10 months old when we got him. It was great because he was already house broke, had his NAVHDA NA Prize 1, with a 112, so we knew he had what he needed for a hunting dog, plus he had a FT puppy derby point ...

I have a hard time with the 57F thing. We missed dosing our lab 1 month in the fall and he got heart worm. I know the temps got below 57F. Also the treatment is hard on them. He was a just over a year when it happen and not a large lab, 65-70 lbs, and only lived to be 10 before his organs shut down....

I checked with a friend that is a judge and she said there is no set distance because it depends on how far the bird goes. I know for the ones I've done and watched it seems like they go at least 50-75 yards. Another thing don't worry if she doesn't keep her nose to the ground, she's not a bloodhoun...

Pull some feathers from the chest and place them where you are starting the drag. Rub the bird on the feathers and a few inches past the way that you are going to let it loose or drag it. Our dogs are house dogs but are in an outside kennel/run when we are gone. Our pigeon coop and duck pen are right across from the dog runs and in an area the dogs can get to when they are in the yard. They soon learn that they can't get to them and they just ignore them. Wow alaskantruck we had a TPLO done on our lab about 10 years ago and it was around $3,300.00 if I remember correctly. Plus the travel to Denver where we had it done and motel for 2-3 nights.

We have had 4 labs in the past and now have 4 GSP's. We feed only Purina ProPlan.These are hunting dogs and they are swimming in a lake at least once a week in the spring-fall. We have NEVER cleaned any of the dogs ears and have never had any with ear infections. ......I wonder what we are doing wrong

We use the liquid but squirt it onto a piece of bread or a bun and then toss it to the dog. They think they are getting a treat and the 4 of them line up for it :D The only problem is whenever we get into the breadbag they think they are getting a treat :D
