Re: Has anyone turned forest into pasture?
I certainly appreciate your concern, but you're missing the bigger picture. We have a 500 foot long driveway that's half gravel and off of a private gravel road (private road = no one maintains it). The driveway and road need to be plowed in the winter, we have a trail system that is truck-wide but ...

Things must be a bit more expensive here in the Northeast. I couldn't find a dozer operator interested in doing the job...and the one that was recommended wanted $30k + all the firewood. Well, we got a quote for clearing & making pasture. The guy started at $48k to make it "golf course" nice or $30k'ish to remove the trees and level 4 acres of land. Obviously I can feed our horses hay for about 30 yrs for what clearing 4 acres would cost, so we opted to chip away at it ourselves ins...

Oh boy...you NEVER add it up! You go run your puppy at a walking puppy stake close to home. You get a ribbon, and the judge tells you what a nice little dog you got there, so you do it again, and you get another ribbon. Now your pup is derby age, and you're having a blast...and you get another ribbo...

Yup, we had an intact male visitor a couple of weeks ago (with 3 intact females and 1 intact male of our own). We caught Oli mark once, he was corrected, and didn't do it again, although we watched him like a hawk. You have to catch them in the act to stop it, and 1 correction is usually enough to s...

How long do you wait to run or road a dog after you feed them?
My old vet said an hour before and after was sufficient, but we've recently had an out-of-the-blue experience with what we think was probably twisted gut caught early, I'm VERY VERY gunshy, to say the least.
