Re: AKC vs UKC
I register my dogs in both and compete in both. There are many things I like about UKC better than AKC. If I have an issue I can call and get a hold of the guy in charge of the hunting programs, and he frequently comes to our National event. A big plus for me is UKC recognizes Epagneul Breton's as a...

DOH!! I saw that and it just blew right by me. Not a a lot Sharptail by Fargo. Head out towards Jamestown, and then go north. You should find some Sharpies. If you want, some day you could come out, and I can see if I can get you into Sharptails, but you would have to hunt alongside those evil Frenc...

You may be feeding them too much at one time. They will pick out what they like best and ignore the rest when there is an abundance of food. I put out 1 tbs per bird when i feed them twice a day. If I pit put more they will ignore the seeds they don't like as much.

The land in the NE part of the state is good Hun and Sharptail land. I have been going there for a number of years and will be going again this Sept, and probably again in Oct. I have a friend that goes in the spring every year to scout the leks, and when I talked to him last week, he was saying he ...

I have used Dogtra Collars for 6 years now. For my money, they have the best one out there. I prefer the 2002 T&B, but as they are dicontinued they are hard to find. The Dogtra 2502 is the current model, and is also a very good beeper collar.

I am far from the authority on tail set as I have shorttails. My understanding is the 12 o'clock tailset came as a result of a painting in the 40's or 50's. Can't say that this is true, but what I heard. perhaps a longtail guy can set me straight.

Re: Old 1940's bird dog training clip
Probably filmed in England, as they were all British breeds. Also the British and Europeans have never believed in the 12 o clock tail set. The tail is suppose to be in line with the dog so it is a straight line pointing to the bird. A trialer in the US, for the most part, would have a heart attack ...

The breeder is required to keep records for each litter that is registered with AKC. He should know the registration number of the puppy. With that registration number you can go to: https://www.akc.org/store/reports/dog/search/dog_search.cfm?basic=yes which is one of the few things AKC does for fre...

For a beeper collar, I would go with a ogtra 2500 T&B. Unless Tri-Tronics did a complete revamp of their beeper system it was cumbersome to change modes to say the least, and to locate you turnrd the beeper on and off with the transmitter.

UKC Field Trials are of 2 types, Liberated and Wild. Wild birds are not shot. In Liberated trials ALL birds are gunned on course, and the dog has to retrieve every bird shot for it. As Derek said the requirements are somewhat similar to AKC Hunt Tests, the requirements for the Gun Dogs are roughly t...

Hello Ryan,
She is roaning up very nicely, I can't wait to see her when she is a little older. Is your dad going to have her fixed? I don't recall if I ever asked you that before. I am kind of hoping that he isn't as she is shaping up to be a real good looking dog.
