Matrix is currently owned by Don Conicelli. He is a dog that can really move out, if I had to guess I would say that is where your run is coming from! I will add that with that type of blood don't encorage them to run, the run is in their blood, keep him listening and close for a while. Matrix has p...

If your serious about giving trials a shot then the only use of the whistle should be to send the dog on. Use it to encorage the dog to run, its usefull on the breakaway and when you get the dog turned in a direction and want to send him out. Plus if the dog starts messing around with old scent or s...

I sold mine. I train with an old pro that doesn't use them and thats how I learned. A checkcord and a helper "at certian stages" you can train a dog for all situations you will need. Plus some people become too reliante on launchers and don't let a dog learn how to handle birds that are running, bir...

I agree with Ezzy, you got to look around for the hawks. I make sure to look around for birds perching in the area and will get on the fourwheeler and chase them away first. BIrds are too valuable to not. Yesterday was one of the worse days I have seen in Eastern PA, they all most be here right now....

At a year old I would not let the dog chase anymore. I would break the dog using pen-raised birds and then bring him back into the wild birds and reinforce the training. Your at the perfect time for it, the dog should be old enough to take formal training, the wild birds should be getting ready to n...

Handling off horse is a huge advantage. You can see the dog better, the dog can see you better, the dog keys off the horse's direction from a distance, you can get to finds faster, you can get back to the front faster. All those things would be my guess what the judges are referring too.

They like the sunny sides of hill on cold days and try to stay out of the wind. When it gets real co...
