wouldn't an option be to crate train or keep the dog confined to a kennel inside the garage, and the once the dog gets a bit older, then work with teaching him to stay off the fence and in the yard???

what about composite decking material? I have had pea gravel in the past and it was OK. Had to stay on top of cleaning otherwise the gravel become a gravel/mud/waste combination. I was told by the breeder of my last dog to add some flavor via broth or gatorade to water to try increase drinking desire. it did seem to help, but not sure if the gatorade was the best suggestion after getting some second opinions on that.

As long as the dog is cared for, given opportunities for exercise, and kept healthy, I don't believe it should matter if they are living in a "hunting home" What the heck is even considered a "hunting home"? I know lots of people who own hunting breeds that keep them cooped up in a kennel 48 weeks ...

When my pup was having allergy symptoms, I suspected the mushrooms in the backyard. As mentioned, complete removal can be quite the undertaking depending on the source.

Problem with that theory is those of us that are on the Rural Water system are drinking water that comes from the intensive Ag areas but that had nothing to do with why we are using it or not using well water. IF, a fire department is causing a water issue with it's training schedule then the problem lies with that department and not with the water supply or the water system, to me.
