You have said that several times.

I have been baffled the entire thread, much as Chuckar seems to be. I see probably close to 100 different bird dogs and a few retrievers a year and virtually none of them have been FF'd or heard a clicker?

Re: How to help establish a Bold dog that is under foot?

I hardly ever get in front of a dog to flush a grouse unless I cut a wide circle, they almost always flush when I am 10-30 yards from my dog, so if you have a 50 yard do then yes, the bird will probably only sit there for a few seconds, depending on how long it takes you to walk 20-40 yards  I...

Your question is more like is there any way people who have no interest in learning how to train a dog can train a dog. The answer is sort of, lots of people don't train there dogs and just take them hunting and are completely satisfied.

I would teach it the exactly the same way? I am not sure I understand your question. I don't want to get into another clicker training thread, but you don't need a clicker to teach anything. You can get pretty good results using positive reinforcement and shaping, depending on the dog, the trainers skill at implementing these techniques, jus...

Stuck on Setters because of the look and I have the opportunity to go watch a bunch of them and pick a breeding I like. Most of the pheasants you hunt at lodges in SD are hatched in mn. and migrate to SD via semi. All birds are dumb they either sit and let you shoot them or fly away. in a lot of ways wild are easier because you know how they will react. I like when they are supposed to be broke, it sucks having a dog that goes with the bird, really tough to know when a wild bird flushed wild while being pointed or if the dog took it for a ride when they are allowed to go with the bird, much easier to correct when they are broke and make a mistake.
