Re: First time in the trash
I wouldn't worry to much. When Bodie was a pup he ate a cell phone and TV remote. As for getting in the trash, set a mouse trap on the edge or top of the trash and put it to where he can get to it easy. I have some friends that have mouse traps on all their garbage cans around the house and camper....

Re: Buying my first hunting dog
First and foremost, I would CALL the breeders that you are interested in. From talking to breeders, I was able to quickly rule out the ones that didn't work with my personality, goals, and hunting dog traits. From there talk to references that have gotten dogs from that breeder. This will help you d...

For those that haven't shared, would you let me know where you got your dog? I have contacted close to ten Kennels and it would be cool to hear/see the results of those that I have talked to and maybe see some other options.
I truly appreciate all the comments!

The only thing I dislike about my dog is that he shed a lot. I tried a lot of thing to help it out without success. My frien have one too and he shed a lot too and they are not from the same breeder. This may be an obvious question, but does Hunter shed seasonally or year-round? That was one concer...

I will be setting out on my 42nd year of hunting birds in Idaho tomorrow. I started when I was up at U of Idaho and I have hunted here every year since, even when I was working in bordering states. I've hunted over 9 bird dogs of my own and numerous buddies dogs. So as it starts again. Good luck to...

Re: Youngest bird dogger?
Some great stories! I have yet to meet a bird hunter in my family, including at reunions. But in HS (15) I was fortunate to meet a friend that bird hunted a lot with his father. They graciously invited and showed me the ropes. Unfortunately, 11 years later, none of us have a bird dog. I have hunted ...

Epagneul Breton (French Brittany)
I hunt upland game (pheasant, forest grouse, chukar, huns, and quail) mostly and occasionally waterfowl. I am very interested in the Epagneul Breton (EB) because of its train-ability, size, temperament, and versatility, and drive. I plan on getting a dog in a year or so and was curious to hear from ...
