Pheasant Fest & Quail Classic
My wife and I got back today from Kansas City attending our first Pheasant Fest. We thought it was great! Very well organized. Good seminars, hundreds of booth's providing information on almost every subject related to bird dogs and hunting. If you went, hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. If you...

Ezzy, I will never have the overall knowledge that you do regarding dog nutrition. I am always interested in reading your opinion. But wait a minute! 99.9% "of those things" are not found in most dog foods, least of all those "value" dog foods. With 48% protein and 30% fat I find it to be an excelle...

I agree with most of what is mentioned above, especially the comments of Mike B. I have been feeding Eagle Pack Power to my three Shorthairs for about two years. Extremely satisfied. I'm not usually impressed with tv advertising (except, maybe, during the Super Bowl). But I really enjoyed those Subaru ad's during the Westminster Dog show. May have to go out and get one of those "puppies" in a few months

Snips, Your absolutley correct. It's depressing. Having hunted Texas for over 40 years I can remember days fo 30-35 covey contacts. Ezzy said it best. I've always thought if a dog can spend the Winters in South Texas and the Summers in the North ( the Dakotas, Canada, etc) then you will have a bird dog. I usually hunt in South Texas a couple of weeks each year and send one or two of the dogs to North Dakota for 6-8 weeks in the ...

If your trying to find the two quail left in Texas, you will need a bigger running dog :) On a more serious note, hunting south and west Texas for forty years, I much prefer a wide ranging dog. I woud totally agree that getting a young pup into the field to learn the "scents" of nature is the very beat thing you can do to develop that pup.
