I actually was shooting with a shoulder protector. The kind you put on your shoulder, made of leather (really a shoulder pad). It made a HUGE difference. The slip on pad is also a great idea. It isn't going to be a skeet gun, but I'll do some skeet etc to get polished for the season.

Congrats on the new gun as well!! I just burned through 5 boxes of shells on saturday. I actually did pretty well with it, so with some more practice, I'm sure I'll be 100% by the fall (any misses will be left out in the story telling...)

I'm pretty excited! I just picked up my first O/U today. It is a Rizzini Omnium. It is used, but you wouldn't know it by the shape of it. It's a 20ga with 28" barrells and 5 choke tubes. My Britt did the same thing this year. After running in snow all winter, her pads softened up, and after a good hard run on a hard surface, she wore her pads out. They were talking about the scenting of objects I guess (in Canada). I'm assuming it is the same type of tracking as the AKC tracking (like the variable surface tracking etc...).

This one is used (gently I might add... not a scratch on it). It is a 20 ga., and is very light. Fits great and comes with 5 choke tubes (I believe it was skt, skt, ic, mod, full) and a hard case for $1400 canadian. I think it is a good deal, and from what you are saying, a good solid gun.

No, he was surprised by it. I got the impression it was quite new to him (at least what I told him leading up to this). I didn't know, so I went to see him. Long story short, it is gone now and life is good.

Took the trouble of introducing the running Dremel tool as a good thing, and the dogs are much more cooperative with it than they were with clippers - little doubt because I've not cut a quick with it. Something the Dremel probably gives them the opportunity it indicate is about to happen before it...
