I trapped them for a living. It is just a myth that they "lure" a bigger animal into water .... They are comfortable in water and use it to escape but if pursued into water they have their backs against the wall and there is only "fight" left in the fight or flight instinct...Sorry to be the myth b...

Brave woman but Coons don't "lure" things into water to kill them, its their last chance of survival, they basically have their backs against the wall and are in flight or fight mode. No different then having a back to your wall. Myths continue though.

1 month at trainer wont accomplish anything that you cant do yourself at that age anyway. My problem is one of equipment, access to birds, and a place to shoot over him One month wont change any of that with most V's. You can do all of the yard work (obed) and any good Trainer wouldn't want to take...

I have owned and trained many Vizsla's over the years and they are VERY adaptive to their environment. Don't mistake the term "Velcro dog" as a sign of weakness. Heck, they were bred in Hungary and survived 2 world wars. :D They are biddable, loyal and affectionate but will thrive in many situations...

IMO, very few Dogs are ready to even consider "breaking" at 11 months. Continue working with the Dog and it will tell you when its ready... Forget if the Dog caught any birds! Let the Dog mature first.

OK so a simple Google search for "pointing Lab hunt tests" will still yield some info. I know of nothing about retrievers competing with Pointers though.

I agree with feeding less if you are doing everything you can do to exercise the dog. It doesn't take much to simply keep the dog active. "Mind" exercises can work a lot of calories off of a dog with very little effort from the owner.

I would talk to Charley Rose at Wildrose GSP's who uses some of the most top producing Field Champions in Texas. (US). My GSP is out of similar lines and works well with my Vizsla's but I think your better off sticking with the same breed. What is your GSP's breeding?

No need to wait, training starts from day1. Each individual dog will dictate how much pressure it can take but there are many things that can be worked on without "professional" help. Where did you get your V from?

Wish the shots worked on Mojave Green rattlers. Ran into to 2 in one week at my home. Big fat ugly and some don't rattle. That is a scary snake but the vaccine can still help since the Mojave can have a mix of Hemo and Neurotoxin venom because they will mate with Westerns. The shot does not work on...

It wont help with Moccasins or Coral snakes but it does help with others. My dogs have not shown any side effects.
I would also recommend a snake breaking clinic.

Tuff Pads, ( tincture of Benzoin) will strengthen the pads and mushers wax will keep them from cracking. Its not all about breeding. But it should be! :) If i have to rub tonics and lotions all over my dogs feet to take him hunting, I am afraid I would send him down the road. I don't mind taking 30...

NAVDHA trainers will help you to train. That's a good group to join. That depends on the Chapter... I believe that the loss of hormones leads to weaker muscles and Tendons which makes the dog more prone to injuries. Just my thoughts.

I have had good results using the Seresto collars and I live on a lake in deep south east Texas. Zero fleas or ticks on any dog for over 2 years now.
