My dogs are far from bomb proof, but we keep working on it I don't hunt with people I don't like, but I do not blame them for my short comings as a trainer. Lighten up, enjoy the journey. Depends. I have hunted both Kansas and Iowa during their deer gun seasons. No issues...never felt uncomfortable. Contact point length has nothing to do with the collar moving. Make sure it's tight and use the short points.

Use the short contact points. Make sure the collar is up high on the neck, and tight enough to slip only 2 fingers under the collar. Maybe a little tighter if needed.

For a broke dog the shot or fall is the reward. You can let him retrieve every now and then if he's starting to sour. During the breaking process, the more he retrieves the harder it will be to get him broke.

Keep the lead in your hands, and once the bird lands give a tug on the lead and command here at the same time, and go 180 degrees away from the bird. Then on to the next.

Don't neuter your dog because he may never be used for stud,no reason for that.More negatives then positives but read all those before making the final decision & make up your own mind on that. I have owned GSPS for over 40 yrs & breeding a male or female is always a thought that comes up in a newb...

Went goose hunting today, Banks retrieved his firs goose, shot one at about 60 yards, but only winged it. i myself wouldn't want to deal with an angry 20lb goose! Over the years I've had 4 different generations of the pro 500. Never had any problems. They all took all the wear and tear I or my dogs could dish out.
