Sounds like you & your pup are off to a good start. You might want to check out NAVHDA. There is a chapter locator on the website, http://navhda.com/ Most chapters hold 1 or more training days a month where they get together & help each other train.

Sorry for your loss. From your post Tank was a great family dog and really coming on as a hunter. It's always hard to lose a young dog, we lost one at 2 1/2, but you'll always have the memories of good times. I will never understand stand how someone can hit a dog and keep going. Our lab started having seizures just before she turned 2. She got to where she could only hunt for 30-45 min. We never found out what caused them.This was about 10 years ago & they know a lot more now.

She is a cutie! Do you crate your older dog? When we got a new pup we would just put it in it's own crate by one of our other dogs and it would learn from them. They are crated in the room farthest from our bedroom :) We do leave a radio on for them, seems to help with some of the outside noises.

We have fed PPP for over 8 years and never seen a mealmoth or any other bug or 'debris" in the bags. We have never had a problem with the food except once when a bag of it smelled "sweet". Thanks for all the info. Sounds like an invisible fence system is the way to go. Lot less expensive and ugly than putting up prison fence around the property. Make sure you condition your dog to the E-fence correctly, don't take shortcuts. It's a pain to set up the flags and walk the dog around for...
