Its been 5 years & we are stil waiting for the Home Inspection" / visit from ABR. The stinkers turned us down because we are a hunting household, period. Basic obedience first, lots of it. Dogs that may appear to obey around home with no distractions can be quite "deaf" in the field with distractions around. I use a suburban. Two crates facing the back gate side by side. One crate inside driver's side rear door backed up against the two crates in the back end. Rest of space is cargo space. Can haul 3 people & plenty o fgear this way. Just don't tangle with any skunks or you would rather have the pick up...

or Dog Chow. Way better. Not cheaper. Premium kibble costs more but they do not need to eat as much.

+1 on the additional praise & bonding. Sounds like she needs a little reassuring that she is making you happy. Dogs comply for the praise & want to please. It's not like we pay them very much except in hopefully returning their affection & praisin them so they recognize they are making you happy. So...

DO NOT expose to gunfire until you have a clue what the heck you are doing.
Dogs are made gunshy, they do not come that way.
Work on the obedience & control until it is automatic. If you cannot control the dog, the rest is just academic!

If you run dogs with a fine tight coat, you could also try using a flea type comb.
Or, a very fine toothed stainless comb. If you run E. Pointers, this would be ideal I would think.

Sounds like a "Good Problem". Pup must have plenty of desire. I would think with only 2 hunts behind him he is still figuring out who the boss is & just what is expected of him. If you hunt him more he should associate you with the good things in the field & recognize you are the boss & his partner....

My French Britts were having trouble with the snow. Not from lack of conditioning either. There feet could not reach the ground through deep powder. Pretty hard for a dog to move in soft powdery snow when the feet do not touch anything solid. I have not found a breed that can levitate yet. A longer ...
