Standing on birds without a launcher
My pointer is giving me headaches. He will stand some days and others he wont. He has such a strong prey drive, which I like, but we need to learn to focus it. I have some launchers on order but they wont be here for about 3-4 weeks. We have worked WHOA for many weeks and he does very well, he will ...

I currently have gravel, and I am very sick of it. Any other suggestions for kennel floors without spending a fortune. Thanks

He hunts likes it no tomorrow. I take him roading with my pointer and we usually go 10-12 miles and its not a problem for him at all. The only time he slows down is when we are hunting chukars in the steep rocky country. Other than that he never stops. He does well in the NSTRA trials I attend. We c...

Here is my pointer. He is 18 months old, holding his birds alot better, but still wants to break. I like his style though, he looks good. http://s255.photobucket.com/albums/hh138/elkhunter_ruger/?action=view¤t=100_1416.jpg http://s255.photobucket.com/albums/hh138/elkhunter_ruger/?action=view&c...

FF without a table.
I just recently watched the FF from Jim Dobbs. I have watched it a couple of times and I feel comfortable with the process. My GSP has decided he does not like retrieving that much anymore. He drops them, circles me, drops them, then pee's on them. Then is off to find another bird. My only question ...

He finds them, but he wont hold point. He will point when we set it up with a CC and walk him into the bird. He is getting better and better each time. I am just comparing him to my GSP who was so easy to train, stood on his birds from the very beginning. Now I have my hands full with this out of co...

Utah really doesnt allow training on wild birds from april to august. It makes sense, and I went out for the last time this week for pheasants around my house. But I was not aware it was a law. Good to know though. How far of a drive from SLC is it to get to some decent sharptail country in ID? Thanks

He knows here just fine. We have worked on that alot. He responds to it, he is very hard headed, I have to increase the stimulation alot sometimes it seems to get him to obey. And I know he knows what "here" means. When we do yard training and I say "here" with very little stimulation he comes runni...

Dog running away
Whenever I go exercise my pointer, he hunts for himself, runs off and then I spend my time looking for him. And I mean he just runs anywhere he wants, my shorthair keeps track of me and stays in front. Whats a good training technique to keep him hunting to the front but also keeping an eye on me and...

New dog
I am thinking of getting a new dog this summer or early fall. I want a GSP. I have considered a pup out of Sonny and I was also curious about Rick. Any input would be appreciated.
