Re: Back from The Adirondack's and Kona had a ball

She's real good at playing hard. She's no strangers to some sleep. She can generally be found in the dirty close basket in the laundry room. She's just like another kid in my house. Always better when they are asleep.

Re: Looking for a reputable trainer

I am in Levittown. I am swamped the next two weekends with lacrosse. Kids need attention too. I would love to find fellow big runners to put kona out with. So far she has been doing it solo. She may get the idea to stretch a little if she sees someone else at it. I figured there had to be more of my...

Looking for a reputable trainer

HEllo all

I was hoping to get some advice on a reputable trainer for a pointer. My pup is only 4 mos old but you can never start the search to early. I live in pa and was hoping to find someone close to me.

Also if anyone knows of any good seminars going on up here that would be great to.

Re: Back from The Adirondack's and Kona had a ball

Thanks. She is very well colored. I think once she gets darker she will be a great looking dog. Couldn't have asked for a better dog. Tommyboy sent a great pup. She is very level headed and takes to scolding well. Haven't found anything yet that bothers her to long. She seems to role with the punche...

Listen tommy you can't have a great trip in mountains without a good birddog, great beer, lots of meat to eat and a boat to fish from. And the family was nice too.

Thanks Ruth. She is coming along fine. Keep your head up. Everything will work just fine for you and Jersey.

Good luck Ruth. Some of the comments can seem rough. We have all had little vises with our dogs that cause heart ache. When you take on a bird dog you also take on the knowledge and responsiblity of a rowdy animal that loves to work and play. When you move that animal into the city it can and will c...

Just thought I'd share some pics. She was a great little dog on vacation. My wife wasn't happy with it but heck she never is. We were there for a week in a cabin off the lake. She got a little to curious at times and wandered off to the neighbors so she saw the e collar a few times but nothing the t...

Yeah I have heard that before, but for me it is something completely different. I've had it for two years and don't wanna change it. Besides I have never been one to care what others think about anything I do. My wife tells me that it is because i'm an %$#hole.

Kona only likes to chase these pheasant under the air conditioner. It's a rough life being a bird dog. It sucks only working a few months out of the year but we take it in strides.

Anyone who has been to the state of PA or NJ for that matter cannot be suprised at this. If you hunt in NJ you pretty much need a second job just to fund your hunting. It is the TREE HUGGERS. God forbid you should shoot one of the 1000's of deer that are in your county eating your plants or having t...

Hey Ruth, I know the feeling. I was out with Kona during a lacrosse game and I had a guy tell me that I had a nice looking dalmation but the tail should have been docked. By the time I was done, he felt foolish in front of the 4 onlookers and I had someone to yell at besides my teenagers. It felt re...

I have to say, this argument is what truly makes this site so great. You get many points of view on a subject as small as this. I think the consensus is a pup should not be pushed until it can handle it. This is a great thread for a new owner that has never had a bird dog before. I have been around ...

I used Gun Dog Express to get Kona to PA from Tommyboy72 in OK. They were great. They gave us a reasonable price for the two pups that were sent. yeah, my daughter took it upon herself to feed Sadie and i didn't catch it until she was in it. Normally, they all get fed seperately. She is normally kenneled when the boxer eats. Not taking any chances.

Is there anyone on this site that would actually keep a dog with a weak nose. I definately wouldn't knowingly breed my dog to anything that already has a label of being weak in any trait. Breed strong. Train right.

It helps if you train using eez up. Let your dog get on point then give the comand eez up and start walking forward. Get him to come along. Let him know it is ok only on command then when stops give the command whoa. I had a shorthair that stopped creeping once he knew that I would let him eez up on...

I used to have a shorthair with the same problems. Always looked like he had two cups of suger before training. I would take him out to an open field and let him run for 20 to 30 minutes and then bring him in for training. This really helped. Training went much smoother and he always took commands m...

I will have an English Pointer Fiddler/Miller line in just 6 short weeks. I am absolutely excited to get back in the field behind a great bird do...
