Seeing a rib, IMO, would be very different than seeing "ribs". That being said, different people hold their dog/breed to different standards. The statement about overweight is directed at my dogs, not all hunting breeds:)

Different breeds are not to maintain different weights. If I can't see a rib or two on a sight hound or a trial/hunting conditioned dog, they are probably overweight. That being said, I don't want to see ribs on must working or toy breeds. Generalized statements about dog condition rarely applies to...

This year, my client asked me to drive her 3 dogs from CA to the national in OH. First, I would stop planting birds in the same spots over and then over.
Second, I would get some launchers. Once that puppy establishes point, launch the bird the second the dog makes any kind of move. This will teach the dog that any kind of forward progress will cause the bird to flush.
Enjoy!

I hope I'm understanding this right. The dog is moving cross wind (perpendicular), hits scent, and stops. Do you want the dog to turn into the wind? Any further movement from the dog could cause the bird to flush. Their job is to stop when they hit scent, not to draw you a map. Your job is to interp...
