Re: Can I play ball/fetch with my gun dog?
I played fetch with my Britt when she was a pup (and still do). She is a fantastic retriever and has never been taught to retrieve or been FF'd. I don't know if she had the natural ability (if there is such a thing) or if this helped, but I'm happy that she is where she is now. It has not created an...

Re: conditioning
I've let my pup pull me on the bike. It was harrowing at first as he loved to run and pull and would dart every where. We started slowly, and had only once incident. Now he will respond to my commands quite well and just pull his heart out. He's 29 lbs and can really get my bike rolling. I have a gr...

Re: ????'s about CKC to AKC on GSP's
You can enter NSTRA with your CKC registration. You need to be registered as an individual with NSTRA to compete though. You will then use your CKC registration for the dog. It's very easy registering from CKC to AKC and AF. I've done it and it's very painless. In fact, I'm finding it more difficult...

Update to my Defect Dog!
I posted back in September about my 'defect' dog Gunner getting his puppy points. He was given to us to see what we could do with him, and he has definately been a handful, but one cute little guy. Well, I sent my other Britt back down south for some trials this season, and decided to send Gunner do...

B. Rizzini also makes a price point gun called the Omnium that is really very nice too. It is few hundred more than the CZ but probably money well spent. Had to submit my brag! I went to the Upper New York Brittany Club trial this weekend. I had a slow start with the AWD/OD and the AGD stakes. However, my girl Jasmine picked up her first adult placement today. She took 4th place at these grounds (which are quite big) and she really was able to stretc...

I have 2 Britts. My girl has quite a bit of Kansas Kid in her and some Magnum's Masked Man. My little guy has some Microdot and Beans Blaze in him. Re: CH vs. RU CH
However, a 1st through 3rd placement does not ever result in the title "Ch." being placed on a dog's pedigree. A dog earns that title by winning Champion or RU Champion at a sanctioned Championship. So does this mean that if a dog were to be named RU CH at a Championship, the pedigree would show it...

Can someone tell me what a 'limb' find is? I hear about it, but don't know what it is. At it's essence, limbs are on trees, so it could be assumed that it is finding a bird in a tree!!! I definately agree with Karen. Some dogs just have IT, and get it done quick. I think they just need to get some runs in, and gain some maturity to 'learn' the ropes. My girl competed as a gun dog last fall at 2.5 years old. She's a heck of a dog, but definately showed her age. She had a couple of s...

CH vs. RU CH
Hi folks, quick question here. When running at an AF championship, if warranted, they name a CH and a RU CH. If not warrented, they issue 1st through 4th (at least, that is my impression, and I could very well be wrong). So, why do they name a CH and a RU CH? Why not call it CH and then 2nd through ...

Re: Question about gun dog vs. shooting dog.
There are no AKC shooting dog stakes. Shooting dog stakes are an American Field term. Some trials are both Am. Sorry, I should have been more specific. I meant a great gun dog trial stake. That is why I was hoping a judge or two would chime in. I do know that a shorter running dog would not make it as a shooting dog.
