Re: With Holding Placements

Anyone that has participated in putting on a trial knows that they aren't in it for the enormous profit to be made. They do it because they love dogs and enjoy hours of work with little or no thanks. There always seems to be several monday morning quarterbacks that are free with criticism, but short...

Re: GSP vs. English

I think it would be easier for people to give accurate advice if you were to tell us what you intend to do with the dog. I agree that both breeds are capable of being good pets, hunters, and trial dogs. Happiness will be best achieved for you and the dog if you get a pup that has been bred for the p...

That is what I am worried about. If he happens to be one that it bothers, I wouldn't know until after the damage is done. I think I will drive since I want to see that part of the country anyway.

How long was the flight home? How did the pup act and how did your fellow passengers act? I have shipped several dogs in the past, but now I am the customer. I am thinking about driving 1200 miles to pick up a pup rather than having him flown. I am not sure if a long car ride would be more stressful...

I appreciate the thankless job that the moderators perform on this forum. I am puzzled however by the standards that they use to "lock" a thread. The rules state that the will censor material that is "......abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, or sexually oriented." That sound...

Razor makes a good point. I know a breeder that gave a female away because it had a terrible undershot bite and was inferior in several other respects. He didn't have the dog fixed and a few years later the new owner had bred the dog and was advertising puppies EVERYWHERE using the original breeders...

Be careful with that trainer talk. I started out quail hunting. The next thing you know, there was a huge kennel, a one-ton dually, a pro trainer that liked to leave a few dogs with me to kennel or whelp now and then, and a 24ft aluminum trailer and several walking horses! You are right about the ad...

I am a complete novice in this department. Teach me about the importance of COI, especially going back 10 generations. I have been led to believe that little impact is made very far back in the pedigree. (For example, when I see puppy ads proclaiming linebred Rusty and Rusty is in the pedigree ONCE ...

Since you are an expert on this topic, I am curious why your first post asked "why would you change?" Your second post said, "Tell us what a filler is, what they use as a filler and how it cheapens feed."

It would save time if you just told us what you feed and why.

If that is true, why don't we all feed Ol Roy and save a fortune? Maybe filler isn't the right terminology. There is a difference in quality of ingredients, wouldn't you agree? For example, there is a difference between meat and meat by-products. Several years ago, group of my friends, including a f...
