Sproulman, I have to agree about the influx of Grouse hunters, especially on the weekends and over the holidays. Understand however it really does not effect the over all Grouse numbers, but it has made the Grouse even more spooky than normal. No doubt about it the average dog bumps more Grouse here...

I use the wings for retrieving, especially to introduce feathers to the dog, so the dog gets use to having feathers in his mouth as he retrieves. In some cases, especially working with Setters and Pointers this can be important.

No sir it is not unkind, let me explain what I mean. Of the millions of dogs bred the percentage of Dual Champion dogs is very small.

I agree with the men who advise you that its an individual choice, I have 6 dogs and most are at least 2 years apart in age, so I always have a couple dogs in the prime of their hunting life.
