Re: Pigeon trapping question
I wouldn't completely underestimate them. I've seen wild pigeons escape out of my loft which has a nice, commercially made trap with heavy duty bobs. It may also help to have a live bird in the trap to act as a decoy etc... When I empty some traps around here for people, they require me to leave one...

Re: Garmin - First 30 Days
I've heard 17 hours. But I'm not sure if that's true or not.
I know that mine will last for a few trips out to the field and it hasn't failed me yet.
And I nice feature I just noticed the other day is that it shows you how much battery life is left for each collar on the dog info screen.

Re: Looking for a good vest
Wingworks all the way for me: http://www.wingworks.biz/ I don't work for them, nor get anything for promoting them. But I used to live in Hailey, ID and I like the idea of it being made in the USA. My vest arrived two days after ordering it, and I've already logged upwards of 20 miles with it and lo...

Re: Hunt Test This Weekend
Good luck!
I'm a bit nervous as well because I'm running my 6 month old pup in a NAVHDA NA test tomorrow. I think he's ready, but this is the first event for both of us, so we're not sure what to expect.

Thanks. My pup is a Braque Du Bourbonnais out of Elk Run Kennels in Idaho. He's from their "U" litter which is Shorty (Sherrif des Bois de la Mariniere) x Vinnie (Venus du Pontelle de Maicou). He's my first pointer puppy and we got him back in April of this year. I have always hunted upland game wit...

Re: Do you keep your birds near your dog?
I agree as well. It seems to make Jesse that much more birdy. I've had birds in the yard since we got him. Mostly pigeons. But I've recently built a small flight pen for some Bobwhites and to keep the training birds for a few days before taking them out in the field. He always watches intently when ...

Just wanted to say hello...
Hello all, I've been reading a lot of helpful info on this site, and thought it was time to finally join in. I'm pretty new to dog training so I enjoy all the help and input I can get. I love the "Words of Wisdom" topic and many others. I've been reading everything I can, getting out with a bunch of...

My name is Jeff. I'm a 29 year old I.T. Systems Architect. I have been hunting without dogs since I was old enough to hold a shotgun. I got my first gun dog this Spring and I'm very excited to get him trained and ready to hunt with me. My pups name is Elk Run Uzi (aka "Jesse"). He's a Fawn Male Braq...
