Re: A wee bit of humor.
There was a guy who walked home along the railroad tracks from the bar. One night he got wasted and tripped and fell on the tracks. An oncoming train hit him and whacked off his left ear, his left arm. and his left left leg. But someone called 911 and the EMTs came quickly. so the guy was all right.

Re: Dog Being a Baby
I don't think it's necessarily wrong to leave a young pup with a trainer. It has its advantages and I see it done frequently and have done so myself. Now, the pups aren't with the trainers to be broke and finished, or to be FFed, or anything major or stressful. But a little obedience, some time on a...

I looked at FB in your sig. Is that your pup, the little tricolor? I see that in your photos you have her sitting for her retrieving drills. Maybe she sits around birds because in her mind, anticipation = sit. Sit to wait for the retrieve, sit to wait for that bird to go. It's what I'd call a defaul...

That's annoying behavior but your trainer can work through it. Dog wants to act like a screaming marlin on the end of a line? Fine, stand there until ge's done throwing his tantrum amd move on. Dog doesn't want to walk on a lead. OK, then he can go for a nice drag on a lead. Dog doesn't have to like...

No advice on brand, but understand if you need to send your combo unit in for repair for one or other of the features, you're left with nothing until you get it back. With separate units, you have at least one to work with in that event.

I'd start by ditching the harness and replacing it with a prong collar, chain slip collar, or a wonder lead. Check out sites like this https://www.thedogoutdoors.com/dog-bicy ... ories.html For biking on pavement, you might have to watch the dog's pads.
Treadmill works for letting go of energy. I wouldn't use one as my only conditioning program, but I'd consider it a sort of cross-training.

Sometimes when going to a higher protein and fat diet, it helps to cut back on the amount fed with the new food. Once things firm up, gradually increase to the amount that keeps the dog in good condition without poop going loose.
