Fish Oil

I've got a 9 year old GSP who is recovering from Coon Hound Paralysis. Unfortunately an old shoulder injury is slowing the recovery. I was thinking of adding some fish oil to her diet to see if it might help. Can anyone help with dosages?

I think you did the right thing. I believe your Niece needs to realize that if you all are going to make this happen, she is going to need to improve her attitude and display some patience. In other words, the dog did what it has always done... She gets mad and drags the dog off (lots of negativity)...

I whelped a litter of nine this summer and weighted them at nine weeks. Smallest pup (f) was 12. 3 and the largest (m) was 17 pounds. The average weight was around 14 pounds. At six months, all the girls are within a pound or two of one another.

I lived through this and it is no fun. The short trip method will help but I believe time is the ultimate cure. I have heard of people giving the equivolent to dramamene (sp?) to help with the motion sickness but eventually most will simply out grow it on their own.

Why not leave her with the breeder? I think eight weeks is safe enough to take a pup home but it certainly won't hurt her to stay right where she is until you get home. I do not think I would be carting a pup all over creation at that age.

A lot of folks around here run the Yokahama brand A/T S(SP?). I ran a pair on a previous vehicle but sold it before I found out how long they would last. I believe they come in both an 8 and 10 ply version.
