Praise and pressure.... You can raise a good pet by rewards only but I cant see how to raise a gundog that way....And I lived with an Agility, Obedience trainer for years... Maybe one of the Vets on here can chime in. I was always told that the tail gets more connected to the nervous system when a dog gets older? I personally see no benefit for re-docking a tail unless its a show dog that is out of standard.

All of my Vets increased the amount of Ivermectin to kill Demodex if that is contributing to the problem. And yes Demodex is a immune deficiency so a diet higher in amino acids (animal protein) can help.

Mid day snacks can help on multiple day hunts but a dog takes too long to digest things for it to do much that day. But as was stated, it helps keep them and me happy. I have found Satin Balls to be best.

I doubt that any head will roll since the AKC represents the average dog owner and the performance dept. is a small component. The average dog owner believes in positive re-enforcement only.
