Re: Not sure what to do with our male setter
Some people like the idea of owning a dog, more then they like the realities of owning a dog. Unfortunately the little beasts do not pop out trained, they are annoying, destructive, and time consuming. They are just dogs, with little dog brains, they do dog things and will continue to do those thing...

Why don't we all head over to the Versatile Dog forum, or the DD forum, or the DK forum and start to raise silly and inane questions about the purpose and usefullness of their tests? There are dogs who prove they retrieve over and over and over again, weekend after weekend. Those of us with the breeds the need retrieving points don't want that requirement removed, but to find a better way. In order to get those retrieve points, ya gotta win, not just get through the callback. An...

I don't know anyone with the continental breeds that trial who don't want the dogs to have to prove their retrieving abilities. The problem is how to do it so it makes the most sense. We all hate callbacks. Kill on course is impossible to do on so many of the courses we use. I've seen so many dogs t...

You have had some bad luck, but to say that AI's do not produce good puppies, and good litters is a real stretch. I've done several, as the owner of the bitch and the stud. The Griffon played a part in creating the GWP and to this day you will see dogs who resemble a Griff from the coat to body type. In one litter you might see a puppy like yours, a puppy with no coat that will look very much like a GSP and great coats. Is that a good coat for a GWP? No, too long, too ...

I wouldn't use any dog in a breeding program that I knew had any of those problems. Health has to be right up there with temperaments. Bloat...
