i have five dogs four just needs to stay in shape so i will run them as often as i can. i have one that will be two in may killed a few woodcock last year over points will continue yard work and fin.her up this summer the dogs are 4 setters one pointer the young dog is a setter

the more time you can spend with your dog the better when you let him run change direction your teaching the dog to hunt with you work on hand signals teach dog to come when called but its great the more time spent togather

i let the pup run and play first for me it lets them get some of the play out of them first then i work on ob you can do two or three ob just keep them short dont bore the dog with two much and end on a good note even if you have to go back to something the dog knows the let the pup free to run some...

thers nothing wrong with playing fetch with your pup but remember it is just play .i used to roll a ball for the pup and have a short small rope on there collar when the pup would go get the ball let pup come back own his own if he will if not short lite jerks on the rope while saying fetch or come ...

get your pup birdy first let him know there are birds out there and you want have no trouble the dogs breeding should over ride another dog in the field but you still will need to run your pup alone some so pup will not depend on older dog so much

dont let the dog circl the bird once the dog points if any movement make the bird fly if you see the dog wind the bird and dont point hit the launcher i would use a check cord and not let dog chase ...and go easy with the ecollar around birds .. go back when the dog was doing things right and let do...

ESZY give you good abvice kepp it simple call the dog by name ever time if useing crate say kennel when you put the dog in it make the pup wait when feeding and most important let it be a pup

my setters cant take the heat like the one pointer i have .some of the setters do better than some of the others but nothing like the pointer so early morning i hunt my setters when it starts to warm up in early grouse season i hunt the pointer

most times these things work out fine just use caution dont leave the dog and baby alone and when they are togather keep a close eye on the dog the dog will except the baby as part of the pack

i know some will not agree with this.but have you tried the wing on a string to see if the dog will point if you havent i would try this just dont let the dog catch the wing as soon as the dog points then you know the dog will at least point then stop and put the dog back on birds remember when you ...

hunted her this morning watched her wind a woodcock she circle the bird with her nose in the air then the bird flushed she watched it fly off.at 10 months she was pointing those birds if it was just one bird that would not be such a big deal my qustion is why is she doing this

i have a fourteen mo. old english setter female in the spring she was pointing woobcock and she still will point woodcock and grouse the only prob i have if she hits the bird and it sits still she will hold point but if it runs she will take off after the bird my plan is just let her work it out her...

my pointer is 5 years old she has been skinny all her life if the dog has a lot of energe then i would not worry much if the vet says theres no worms then try feeding twice a day a skinny dog is healther than an over weight dog

hold the bird in your hand let the dog get a nose full .move the bird like you are playing keep away the dog should get excited about this even if he dosent let the bird fly if dog chases the bird thats good do this a few times then plant the bird where dog cant see but not so much dog cant smell it...
