If you notice the young birds blinking their eyes more then usual they need s drink of water and its time to dunk their head in water.

Good luck with the problem. I would think that it is something that the breeder would take care of.

Re: What you puttin in your pigeaon water? antibacterial
Apple Cider Vinegar is basically put in the water to create an acidic environment in the gut. This prevents e.coli and salmonella from living there and thus keeps them healthier. That being said, you don't need to do it every day either. Maybe once a week, if that... Some guys use bleach, which does...

The question marks were to question how the laser caused the problem you describe. I can't grasp how a little red dot bouncing around a room would induce psychotic behavior. I think there may be another cause. When I walked into the vet's office, the dog was staring at the wall. The owners called h...

I went and looked at a vizsla that is being surrendered to rescue on Sat. The owner's had told me that the dog had staring spells and would stare at spots on the wall. To me, it depends on the dog. If the dog is an absolute chow hound and is waiting in the crate when someone thinks of food, then I'd be a bit alarmed at the skipping of a meal. I think though, the dog would have to miss a couple meals if activity levels and other basics were good. I also have a bitc...

I personally use Quest Gel. (Horse Wormer) Four bumps on the plunger per gallon. It worms them, and is safe to use while they are on chicks. (Supposedly. I haven't personally wormed them while they are feeding, but have heard that it's ok) Since it's a thicker substance then water, I put the four bu...

You might lose some of the older ones. Do you have a settling cage? That will help with the settling process. Length of confinement will vary. I don't medicate unless it is necessary. Some of the medications can make the birds a bit sickly. Or with constant medication, the meds will be ineffective. ...

In my experience teaching them to break from the flock is probably the most important part of racing. Ezzy is right you are feeding too much. Feed them day by day so you can control their food intake, thus their motivation to get into the loft. You can start roughly a tablespoon per bird and adjust feed from there.

I agree on feeding the birds pigeon pellets. My experience with mixed grain is that the birds pick through the stuff and only eat what they like and a lot of the grain ends up on the floor. Pellets is the way to go for both cost and cleanliness. You are feeding too much when they throw part out and...

I would put a bowl in. That way the chicks have something to push against so you dont have chicks with splayed legs. And it keeps their eggs from rolling all over. Even with nesting material it can happen.
