To make myself a little clearer . I think it's important that the dog sees these off schedule times as a normal occurance and there is a reward at the end. It would be best to do the training first before using any correction.

Specificity . You need to train specific behaviors into your dog. The dog is not going to hunt bumpers. When it is time to let dog hunt you have trained it to find and retrieve . Get yourself on a specific program. Try hickox it will be a good start.

What you are describing is not what you think. Your dog should whoa loose off lead eighty percent of the time. You have just begun. For the sake of your dog slow down and take a step back. Maybe several . Your dog is not trained on the whoa command yet and is not ready for e- collar.

You were not ready for the e collar. Responding to a command and being trained on a command are two different things. Go back to training command until the dog is responding 80 percent of the time in a timely positive manner. Do not confuse shutting the dog down with understanding command.
