Re: anyone experienced a dog that cant scent birds?!

I bought a Brittany several years ago that could not smell a wild bird, but was a bird finding machine on pen raised birds. I do not know what caused this. Perhaps the pen raised birds had more scent.

Re: Info on setters

It seems that most of the old pictures I see of Setters on point, their tails are low. Was this in the bloodlines to begin with?

Seems now everybody wants a dog that is high on both ends.

Re: Loose Stools

I have auto feeders. However, I do not use them as auto feeders. I put a pan of feed in them and replenish when they have eaten it. Depending on the tempature, they sometimes clean it up and sometimes there is some left the next day. Each of them have a different appetite. My 2 female pointers are r...

Re: Loose Stools

With the weather turning colder and having them out more, I thought they needed a little extra. I mixed the feed so as not to give them an abrubt change as I do each year. The male pointer I just got home from the trainer. He is awful in a kennel. He goes then spins around in it. I feed at night aft...

Loose Stools

Looking for suggestions on a dry food that will usually give a good stool. Have 3 pointers and 1 setter. Interested in the grain free feeds but with 4 dogs, cost becomes a factor as well. Have been feeding Complete Sport from Southern States. Switched to Advanced from Southern States and now have a ...

I have a fenced in area around my kennel and barn of about a 1/2 acre. I had a problem of him getting out. I put the ecollar on him and the i...

Setter Run Off Issue

I purchased a 1 year old setter male that handled well for the previous owner as I looked at the dog in the field prior to purchasing. This was about a month ago. Had the dog out 2 times and both times he has taken off paying little or no attention to me in the field. Around the kennel, he acts as i...

Hunted North East KS Sat and Sun. Opening week end of the quail season DRY! DRY! DRY!. Pheasants seemed to be up over last year but quail were in my opinion down from last year. Moved to South East KS on Monday. Same thing there. Dry and not many birds. According to some hunters that hunt private la...

I have experienced the same problems with the Innotek collars. I had a 2 dog model, with the beeper, 1600 command transmitter. Sent back more times than I can remember. Would not retain programming, difficult to program. Bought a Dogtra. Love it. Simple, light weight, and no problems. 2 dog model wi...
