Grant, I am a Grouse hunter 90% of the time, and 80% of that time I use a 16 Gauge L.C. Smith double gun. However I do use everything from 12 to 28 Gauge, depending on what upland hunting I am doing and in what habitat I am hunting. Might want to consider 16 guage guns in your poll for truer results...

Because I like very challenging Grouse hunting to me the best Grouse hunting is right here in the Pa & WVa mountains,

Would you explain please why you want such a short BBl pump gun, other than home protection there is very little legal use for
them in my home state of Pa. If you are bird hunting a 26" or 28" BBl would make more sense.

I agree with the rescue dog also, if you never plan to hunt. You can find a nice Setter in a rescue shelter for minimal money,
and save the dogs life. Owning a Ryman gun dog and not hunting is a sin in itself.

You are correct sir, unless the gun was tested for steel shot I would use a different kind of shell. This really does not effect me with my upland hunting most times. These are definitely serious Grouse guns, I would like to own both a 28 & 16 Gauge

Here in Pa it is against the law to hunt with your dogs in rifle Deer season, except on a regulated shooting grounds. So we do not hunt or train during this part of the season.
