Little brag from a newb
We packed up the dogs and drove 10 hours to TN this weekend to play dogs at the Percy Priest wildlife grounds; they are gorgeous! Cooper had a great open puppy run and handled beautifully. We won that class to max out his open puppy points. Our debut run in Derby was a big flop because he took off a...

Re: Entered a puppy in the walk puppy
To sum it up, you walk around and hope your pup stays running out ahead of you. You will likely run a shortened version of the gun dog course; it's all a field trial. The advice I got before my field trial was to shut up and let the dog do its job- in other words, let her run. I only holler a bit wh...

Re: whoa help
Whoa is a command independent of birds and pointing... that's the best advice I've been told.
Until you can bet your house on the dog planting all 4 feet and sticking in many situations, including running, then don't use whoa around birds.

I put in a call to them before I posted on here.
I took the hunter safety course and can get a hunting license, but if I don't need to because I won't be hunting, then I'll spend my $30 on birds
I have no desire to try to shoot, I'll be busy enough trying to keep track of the dog

Satin Balls put weight on fairly quickly. As far as your dog goes... pick an amount and feed it for 10 days. 1. If after 10 days, she is still too thin for your liking, increase slightly. 2. If she's right where you want her, then I would decrease the amount your giving her to provide a maintenance ...

Put the dog down. The fact that you have children in the house makes the circumstances and situation of the bite/nip/snap unimportant. It's not fair to your kids to keep a potentially dangerous dog in the house. And it's not fair to anyone else to give them an unpredictable dog. There are too many n...
