I don't know what the tests or allergy shots costs...so can't help you there. The basics of the testing/shots are: you test to see what the dog is allergic to and then give small doses of that substance over time to desensitize the dog to the allergen. I see lots of "pick of the litter" for sales posted so either it's not a guarantee or nobody knows how to pick. I think your right...if your not set on sex, markings etc. and they all act and are socialized the same....it's potluck.

I would say some of it depends on the pedigree behind the dog. I'm sure he's a nice dog but the previous poster is right...plenty of MH studs out there and most people serious about breeding aren't concerned about black vs. brown..it's about the stud and the right fit. I have never paid any attention to calories per cup since it really doesn't mean anything Huh? How can you say calories don't mean anything? Just curious...what made you decide to start out feeding double the amount? Unless i misread it looks like the 24/20 sportmix mini chunks have more calories per cup than any of the diamond natural varieties...not being a wisea$$ just curious.

we raised beagles for years when i was a kid. as long as there is ample straw and protection from the wind they will be fine. My wife used to worry about the same thing until we found our golden sleeping outside of his dog his in the winter so he could cool down

I haven't had a pheasant mounted but have a mallard in flight that cost around 250 a couple years ago. As to the damage repair...i think how it turns out largely depends on the location of the damage and the skill of the taxidermist.

My opinion, FWIW, is that the dog has been shot by a BB gun or something without you knowing about it. Could have been. My parents used to raise and still have JRT's. this is why i don't use whistles. I am lucky enough to be able to whistle loudly with my mouth so it's a unique sound. Plus, a whistle in the mouth of a handler...whos dog obviously doesn't know what the whistling means...or doesnt care...makes me want to choke someone

I can't see that this will hurt anything but i can't say that i've ever read/heard anything that dogs need "closure". I will say they'll figure out he's not there on their own. I certainly wouldn't go out of my way to do it...but i'm no expert.

I have one that does the same thing. He eats as fast as he can and goes to the house and gags/pukes. He then eats the food he just pukes and keeps it down just fine . I think he's just eating too fast...i'm trying to feed him smaller portions divided and seems to be helping.

I'm not an NSTRA expert but if you have a dog that has had "a problem with the gun" I would be hesitant about putting her in a situation where there's gunfire in close proximity to her when she's not the one pointing/producing the birds. As far as the 7 month old goes...is this the same one you have...

I don't know if you have them around your area, but there are preserves/hunt clubs around my area that you pay (either by usage or a membership fee) to use their grounds and/or birds for training.
